Former BBC Director To NYT CEO

Mark Thompson, former director-general of the BBC, is the new president and CEO of The New York Times Company, reports The Wrap. He replaces Janet Robinson who left last year. He takes over at a challenging time for the company. While digital subscriptions are up, NYTCO is also selling About.com. And it reported a second-quarter net loss of $88 million. Chairman Arthur Sulzberger Jr. said in an internal memo that under Thompson's leadership the BBC became known as a "place of constant innovation."
