Red Sox Coverage Draws Millions of Page Views to Boston.com

  • October 11, 2003
Boston.com saw traffic of 4.3 million page views on Tuesday, Oct. 7, which the subsidiary of the Boston Globe said was the site's highest traffic day during the year. "You won't find more loyal sports fans than the Red Sox fans, and it's our number one priority to deliver them the best online coverage possible," said Teresa M. Hanafin, editor-in-chief of Boston.com. "They're hungry to complain about the manager, vote for their favorite plays, and discuss each game with other readers, so we're making sure we give them plenty of opportunity to do that - and more." Boston.com is going even further during the game over the weekend's series with the New York Yankees, with a mobile billboard driving around the block, distributing 10,000 plastic cowboy hats to people who attend Saturday's home game and having several "logo adjustments" on its homepage.
