Taco Bell Shells Out Additional $11.8 Million In Lawsuit

A federal judge yesterday ordered Taco Bell to pay an additional $11.8 million in interest to the two Michigan creators of the fast-food giant's Chihuahua, bringing the total award to more than $42 million. Attorneys argued that the dog's creators, Joseph Shields and Thomas Rinks, were entitled to receive interest from the time they filed their original lawsuit through the date of the amended judgment, September 9, 2003. The Chihuahua became the creative platform for Taco Bell's three-year, $500 million national advertising campaign.
