Pop-Up Menace Settles with FTC

Ad blocking software firm D Squared Solutions LLC Wednesday reached a settlement on a civil suit filed by the Federal Trade Commission. According to the settlement, the company agreed not to send pop-up ads through Microsoft Windows' messenger function, to no longer sell ad-blocking software, and to refrain from sending other ads unless users can opt not to receive them. The FTC said that using the messenger dialog box to lure consumers only hassled and misled them.
