Now that Barbie has slapped a “For Sale” sign on her fictional Malibu beach house, she’s ready to show off the real thing. Mattel says it is
opening two interactive Dreamhouses next month, complete with “pink elevators, a walk-in “glitterizer,” an endless closet and a dazzling “diamond” ring
display.”
Located in South Florida, at Sawgrass Mills, as well as in Berlin, Germany, the homes will use Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)
technology bracelets and LED touch screens so that as fans tour the house, they can digitally try on Barbie’s clothes. Designed by EMS Entertainment, the company says the 25,000-square-foot
Berlin house and the 10,000-square-foot Florida house took 20 pounds of glitter and 100 gallons of pink paint.
In addition to charging admission, each
house will offer plenty of Barbie merchandise for sale.
