VNU, the parent of Nielsen Media Research, Thursday said it arranged a $1.27 billion credit facility with a syndicate of banks, which it said was intended to use as "working capital and acquisition
financing." VNU is believed to be in the market to make a major acquisition in the media and/or marketing research field, and U.S. radio ratings rival Arbitron is considered a prime target.
