The Washington Post Co.'s washingtonpost.com on Thursday launched a new ad unit called the Homepage Marquee with Marriott International, Inc. The Homepage Marquee appears on the right-hand side of
the washingtonpost.com homepage and will be alternated with other ad units. The new ad corresponds to the "half page" ad formats running on the article pages of washingtonpost.com and other news
sites. "The large amount of space offered by the Hompepage Marquee allows advertisers to produce brand ads that very effectively grab the attention of users," said Caroline Little, CEO and
Publisher of the Post Co.'s Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive. "The Homepage Marquee creates a large and compelling advertising experience without infringing on the user experience or editorial
space." "We know that bigger is better online in terms of creating brand impact and results," commented James A. Hering, senior-vicec president and director of TM Interactive, Dallas. Hering's
client American Airlines will be using the new ad format in coming weeks.
