Before the fall, new domains (from “.buy” to “.awesome” are expected to go live at a rate of 20 or more a week, The Washington Post reports. Yet, some industry officials warn
that the changes could cause widespread disruption to Internet operations. “Particularly troubling is the possibility of widespread ‘name collisions’ that could happen when domains
used by internal corporate computer systems … get assigned to the Web more broadly,” WaPo reports.
