DoubleClick Inc. said Tuesday that it would acquire SmartPath Inc., one of the two major players in the field of marketing resource management software. Financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed
but it involves all cash. DoubleClick CEO Kevin Ryan said the acquisition would give the company the opportunity to expand its current offerings as well as integrate SmartPath's products and
services with DoubleClick's. SmartPath's MMS product will be sold through DoubleClick's sales force and will be integrated with DoubleClick's Ensemble by June. SmartPath will remain based in
North Carolina. Ryan said the work force should increase in the next few months.
