The frigid weather is freezing auto sales, and that might warm up a price war. General Motors announced it would offer more than $7,000 in discounts on some of its big Silverado pickups. The news sent shoppers to showrooms, but it is worrisome to investors wondering if slowing sales may trigger an incentive war, the kind that sucked the profits from the industry earlier in the Millennium.
