Shamrock Communications Adds 7 Stations To SurferNETWORK Alliance

  • January 2, 2001
SurferNETWORK.com, Inc., an Internet marketing and content distribution company, has started streaming the first of seven stations of Shamrock Communications Inc., Scranton, PA.

WZBA-FM, Baltimore, an adult contemporary rock station heard throughout the Baltimore metropolitan area, is the first Shamrock station to join SurferNETWORK. It will be joined by two Shamrock stations in Tulsa, OK; one in Austin, TX; and three in Milwaukee, WI. Additional Shamrock stations may join SurferNETWORK after current contracts expire.

SurferNETWORK's patent-pending technology streams radio programming over the Internet with near FM sound quality while virtually eliminating the very annoying problem of drop-outs caused by Internet congestion. SurferNETWORK replaces on-air commercials with new audible ads, accompanied by synchronized clickable banner-type ads, chosen for each listener based upon profile and preference data. Those who choose not to provide information hear more generic commercials. While music is playing, the artist's name, song title and album cover appear on screen with links for buying CDs.
