According to Laurie Demeritt, CEO of the Hartman Group, 50% of all eating occasions are snacks, with the traditional three squares a day comprising the
other half. “Foods that were traditionally thought of as snacks are now being eaten as meals; things that were eaten as meals are now being eaten as snacks,” she said, adding that the
pre-breakfast snack, the dinner snack and the late-night snack are on the rise.
