Uber Facing Challenges In Far East, Too

Online car service operator Uber has been facing pushback from governments in the U.S. and abroad. Thailand’s Department of Land Transport is the latest government organization to nudge Uber off the road. The bureau has ruled that the car-sharing service is operating illegally. Thus Uber Black and Uber X services are now banned there. Singapore is looking at restrictions on car-sharing and Malaysia wants to nab Uber drivers without licenses. Uber had to shutter operations in Nevada after a court backed the state’s view that the company was operating illegally with unlicensed drivers.
