Penske Media’s Variety has named trade marketing vet Dea Lawrence CMO of the iconic entertainment industry trade publication.
Lawrence, who most recently was senior vice president-sales at ad technology software startup Aarki, will be responsible for Variety's global branding and communications strategy.
She will report to Variety Publisher Michelle Sobrino-Stearns and will be based in the company's Los Angeles office.
Lawrence held a series of ad tech-related sales and marketing roles, including vice president western region for TubeMogul’s enterprise software unit, and head of western sales for AT&T Adworks, as well as stints at PointRoll/Gannett and a previous role at Variety as vice president of digital sales and marketing.
