Magazine giant Hearst Corp. has purchased all the stock of Atlanta -based Veranda Publications Inc., in a deal that brings the shelter magazine Veranda - and its wealthy audience - into a family of
magazines that includes Cosmopolitan, Esquire and Popular Mechanics. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. According to Publishers Information Bureau, Veranda captured $14.2 million in ad
revenue in 2001, a 14.3% jump over the previous year, even as ad pages fell 1.2%. For the first four months of 2002, Veranda's ad revenue has fallen 11.7% to $3.8 million, according to PIB. Ad pages
are down 22.7% for that period.
