Contextual Advertising Company To Serve Ads On Weblogs, RSS Feeds

  • January 11, 2005
Contextual advertising services provider Chitika, Inc. Tuesday launched a new contextual advertising system for bloggers. Called BlogContext, the new service is designed to help publishers monetize their content and RSS feeds. BlogContext allows publishers to insert contextual ads into blog posts by pasting in a single line of html code.

"Blogging has become an explosive trend in the realm of personalized publishing," stated Lauren McIntyre, vice president, marketing for Chitika. "The market is looking for ways to generate revenue in these efforts," she said, adding that BlogContext lets bloggers easily insert targeted text-based ads to monetize their content.

In real-time, BlogContext selects ads based on page content from Chitika's network of over 500,000 ads; Chitika serves different ads as the blog's content changes. Ads are displayed to the user regardless of whether the content is being viewed on a page or through an RSS reader.
