Former GM Exec To Chart VW's Course

Thomas Sedran, a former General Motors executive, has been hired as VW's chief strategist. Sedran's challenges are beyond measure, and include charting a course for the company's 12 brands over the next ten years post-fiasco. Job one is fixing VW, Skoda and Seat volume brands. The 51-year-old ex-consultant faced a similar test at GM when he was asked to curb overlap between the Opel and Chevrolet brands in Europe.
