Ted Cruz’s daughters, 5 and 7, were included in a political editorial cartoon by Pulitzer Prize winner Ann Telnaes. The cartoon has since been taken off The Washington Post site. Telnaes drew the two girls as monkeys on leashes. Other GOP candidates have come to Cruz’s defense, showing their disgust in the cartoon and the use of Cruz’s kids.
So shameful. Where were the editorial page supervisors, who should have stopped this cartoon from ever running? Such an appalling abdication of responsibility. George Washington said: "Let us erect a standard to which wise men may repair." If journalists are in the business of holding others accountable, then editorial management has to enforce standards too--and be accountable.
