The number of DMCA takedown requests on Google search have quadrupled in the past two years, as the industry tries to keep people away from pirated sites. Some 5.1 million pirate URLs
were reported to Google in first week of June, 2014, a figure that increased to more than 22 million two years later, according to TorrentFreak. The takedown requests are from copyright holders
asking Google to remove specific content from search results indexed from Web sites.
