Home Builders Group Creates Video For HGTVPro.com

Scripps Networks' HGTVPro.com, a two-month-old "video-centric" Web site for home building pros and aficionados, recently added two videos produced specifically for the Internet by the National Association of Home Builders to the site's roster of 200 online videos. The videos are part of a series of 30 to be produced by the Home Builders association; all are expected to post by the end of the second quarter, said William Crosby, HGTVPro.com vice president-editorial.

The other Web videos on HGTVPro.com were put together by traditional production companies, like RIVR Media and Homerun Entertainment, Crosby said. The Home Builder videos, which were created specifically for the Internet, were an outgrowth of programming by the group for Scripps Networks' Do-It-Yourself channel.

The videos, which are about environmentally friendly construction, are preceded by 15-second streaming ads from marketers including GM, Microsoft, Moen, and Viking. During the ads, viewers can get extra information about the products by clicking on links that appear next to the video stream.

Crosby said that more than 75 percent of HGTVPro.com's audience connects to the site through a high-speed connection. So far, more than 200,000 unique users visit the site monthly, and have viewed more than 100,000 streams each month, Crosby said. "Our numbers are confirming that this audience is completely ready for video," said Crosby.
