Marden will style covers and fashion pages and work with Esquire’s fashion team to expand men’s fashion coverage throughout the magazine.
Nick Sullivan will remain fashion director at Esquire and will oversee its fashion content alongside Marden.
According to a statement from the magazine, style has “taken on a new importance in men’s lives.”
This spring, The Daily Beast launched Red Label, a new editorial initiative to develop lifestyle and culture content. Red Label is led by a new team of four senior executives, most snagged from Esquire. Previously, Marden was a freelance stylist. Starting in 2004, he spent more than a decade as fashion director at Details, which was shuttered at the end of last year, following declining print advertising pages.
He has also served as associate editor of men’s fashion at Town & Country in 2000.Marden has collaborated with photographers including Mark Seliger, Robbie Fimmano, Matthew Brookes, John Balsom, Tetsu, Philip Gay, Bill Kidd and Milan Vukmirovic.
