Univision has hired News Corp.’s senior vice president of strategy Raju Narisetti to become the new CEO of Gizmodo Group. He will take on the role in late October.
Narisetti will oversee Jezebel, Gizmodo, Kalopnick, Deadspin, Lifehacker and Kotaku. Gizmodo Group is the rebranded group of Gawker Media, which now no longer includes Gawker.
The property was shut down when Univision bought Gawker Media at a bankruptcy auction last month for $135 million, after losing a lawsuit brought by Hulk Hogan. It was later revealed the suit was bankrolled by billionaire investor Peter Thiel over a sex tape published on the site.
Nick Denton, the group’s founder, is no longer involved in the company.
Narisetti will report to Isaac Lee, chief news, digital and entertainment officer of Univision, and Felipe Holguin, president and COO of Fusion Media Group, which includes titles such as Fusion, The Onion and The Root.

“[Narisetti’s] commitment to journalistic integrity, his entrepreneurial spirit and proven ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced digital environment will help us strengthen and grow these newly acquired category-leading brands,” stated Lee.
Narisetti has previously served as managing editor of The Wall Street Journal Digital Network.
Separately, the New York Post’ "Page Six" reports Rolling Stone founder Jann Wenner plans to pass the magazine to his 26-year-old son Gus Wenner after its 50th anniversary next year. Gus is currently head of digital operations for Wenner Media, which includes Us Weekly and Men’s Journal.
