IRS Employees Caught Sending Taxpayer Data Through Unencrypted Emails

IRS employees have been caught sending emails with private taxpayer data to their personal email accounts, according to a recent audit from the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration. The inspector general identified six employees that sent this data over unencrypted emails to personal accounts. The data included personally identifiable information.
