E-Mail Coalition Mandates Authentication

  • June 2, 2005
The E-mail Service Provider Coalition stated it will now mandate that all members implement an authentication protocol for corporate e-mail and e-mail sent on behalf of others. "E-mail accountability represents our industry's best chance to restore confidence, and take the medium back from the spammers," stated the coalition in a statement issued Wednesday and posted on the organization's Web site. "It's entirely too easy for spammers and phishers to evade accountability for their fraudulent activity by disguising their identity or assuming the identity of a legitimate company."
