MTA To Ditch Booze Ads

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority board is banning new ads peddling beer, wine and spirits. A board member said he heard complaints when Heineken beer ads were plastered on the outside of double-decker Long Island Rail Road cars. The MTA will lose $2.5 million a year from the revenue alcohol-product ads bring at a time when it is requesting hundreds of millions of dollars in new spending to turnaround subway service.
