Atlantic Media Expands 'Nextgov', 'National Journal' Teams

Atlantic Media announced new hires last week to its Nextgov and National Journal brands.

Aaron Boyd is joining Nextgov, Government Executive Media Group (GEMG)’s federal technology brand, as senior editor for technology and events.

Boyd will cover trends and stories in the federal technology industry, as well as lead Nextgov’s editorial event offerings, including digital events and video broadcasts. He will set program agendas, recruit speakers and serve as primary moderator of Nextgov’s events series.

Boyd was previously at Sightline Media Group, where he founded the company’s newest federal-focused publication, Fifth Domain, which covers cybersecurity. He was also editor of Sightline’s Federal Times, reporting on the federal workforce and contracting.

For the last two years, Boyd was in charge of organizing Sightline’s CyberCon, a military and intelligence conference on government cybersecurity.

Nextgov celebrated its 10th-year anniversary this year and relaunched its website last month with a revamped events hub.

Atlantic Media's National Journal hired Mackenzie Weinger as policy editor for National Journal Daily. Weinger previously covered national security and foreign affairs at The Cipher Brief. She has also worked at the Financial Times in London and Politico.

Over the last year, National Journal also expanded its coverage of tax energy, and tech policy under the Trump administration.
