Mod Media Taps Hicks As Business Director, 'New York Spaces' Publisher

Jennifer Hicks will be responsible for developing sales and marketing initiatives for the shelter publication, which the company acquired from Davler Media Group last summer.

Hicks is familiar with the brand — she served as publisher of New York Spaces in 2010, when the title was owned by Wainscot Media, and now assumed the role again. The pub was bought by Davler Media Group in 2013.

New York Spaces editorial director Jason Kontos called it “a pleasure” to be reunited with Hicks. He worked with her at Hearst and New York Spaces eight years ago.

Hicks will also develop new partnerships for Mod Media’s portfolio of luxury lifestyle magazines, which includes HudsonMOD, ChicagoMOD, Healthy Living and Exuberance.

Mod Media CMO Shannon Steitz stated Hicks’ hire comes “after a year of exponential growth for Mod Media.” In 2017, Mod Media launched lifestyle pub ChicagoMOD and luxury auto magazine Highways.

Mod Media also moved its corporate headquarters to Chelsea in Manhattan last month.

Hicks has also held publisher and sales director positions at media companies like Condé Nast, Hearst and Smithsonian. She was most recently SVP and head of luxury for The Economist and associate publisher for Condé Nast Traveler.

Hicks stated she was eager to “develop new programs and partnerships that will connect luxury brands with our discerning audiences.”

New York Spaces reaches 200,000 magazine readers and will print seven issues in 2018, according to Mod Media.
