American Airlines, the world’s largest airline, said it is taking “the next step” to reduce the carrier’s impact on the environment by reducing the amount of plastic on
board planes and in lounges around the world. Starting this month, American will eliminate plastic straws from its lounges and instead serve drinks with biodegradable, eco-friendly straws and wooden
stir sticks. American also will begin transitioning to all eco-friendly flatware within lounges.
