Trump Jr.'s 'L Word' Subject Line Raises Questions

Rep. Martha McSally (R-AZ) has sent out a fund-raising email signed by Donald Trump Jr. lambasting her Senate opponent, Rep. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ).

The question is: What did she and Trump mean with the subject line “The L Word?”

Sinema describes herself as a bisexual. And “The L Word” was the name of a Showtime series about lesbians, according to TPM.

So was the subject line a reference to lesbians? Was the line a coded term for liberals? Or as McSally spokesperson Torunn Sinclair insisted to TPM, did it simply mean “liar?”

Either way, the copy was quite heated, as one might expect in a toss-up race as the midterms draw near.

It says:

“Martha McSally is a proven conservative fighter who has been a public servant her entire career. She’s defended our rights at home and abroad, in the military and in Congress.

“When Martha was dropping bombs on the Taliban, her opponent was protesting our troops and trash talking the very voters she’s trying to represent.

“Sinema thinks she can smear voters, call decorated veterans like Martha a liar, and still waltz into the Senate, and that’s what’s truly crazy.

“In this race, the choice is obvious because there’s only one—Martha McSally.

“Please help me support Martha today and let’s keep another crazy liberal candidate out of the U.S. Senate."

If elected, Sinema reportedly would be the first bisexual to serve in the Senate and the first Democrat elected statewide in 30 years.
