Ex-AOL Employee Given 15 Months For Spam

Former America Online employee Jason Smathers was sentenced to 15 months in prison Wednesday for participating in a spam ring. Smathers pleaded guilty in New York federal district court to conspiracy in February, based on charges that he sold a list of 92 million AOL screen names to Sean Dunaway, who allegedly sent gambling-related spam to AOL subscribers.
