'Real Simple' Announces Shoppable Brooklyn Idea Home

For the second year, Real Simple will host its Brooklyn Idea Home, this year filled with products that are nearly 100% shoppable via a hub at Real Simple.

Six sponsors have signed onto the project so far: The Home Depot, Elkay, Glade, Whitehaven Wines, Mrs. Meyer’s and Sleep Number.

In line with Meredith’s recent push into leveraging the powerful simplicity of SmartCodes to engage its audience, the home’s products will be available to consumers via the codes.

The home, a multilevel townhouse, will be curated by interior designer Anita Yokota, DIY blogger Mandi Gubler, home renovators John and Sherry Peterski of Young House Love and luxury interior designer Emilie Monroe, in addition to others. Each takes over an individual room, designing it to reflect their specific aesthetic.

Innovative design ideas will accompany the shoppable products found throughout the home.

Leslie Yazel, editor in chief of Real Simple, stated: “We're creating an idea home for real life and real people. We'll show how a home can be both incredibly beautiful and extremely organized — and making it shoppable creates an elevated but accessible experience.”

In addition to offering a shoppable experience, Real Simple is partnering with Win, the largest provider of shelter and permanent supportive housing for New York City homeless families, to raise awareness.
