Google has hired Vinton Cerf to take on the role of "chief Internet evangelist" at the Mountain View, Calif.-based company. Cerf, chairman of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers,
currently works at MCI, where he shepherded technological innovations. In a statement, Google said that Cerf will "help Google build network infrastructure, architectures, systems, and standards for
the next generation of Internet applications."
