Meredith CFO Joe Ceryanec, 'Sports Illustrated' EIC Chris Stone Stepping Down

Meredith Corp. CFO Joe Ceryanec is retiring.

He will remain at the company as it searches for his replacement, but expects to step down by early 2020. He has been at Meredith for 11 years.

Ceryanec came to Meredith from McLeodUSA. He helped negotiate Meredith’s $2.8 billion acquisition of Time Inc. last year, as well as the purchase of AllRecipes.com.

Separately, longtime Sports Illustrated editor-in-chief Chris Stone is stepping down five months after the publisher was acquired by Authentic Brands Group for $110 million from Meredith. It licenses the media operations to ad platform and media company Maven.

Stone has been at Sports Illustrated for 15 years.

SI executive editor Steve Canella and SI.com managing editor Ryan Hunt will step in as co-editors-in-chief of Sports Illustrated, according to a report in the New York Post.

“Stone is considering an offer from Maven for a more global, less SI-focused position within the company,” according to an internal memo sent to staff Tuesday and obtained by the NYP.

In addition, Vanity Fair creative director Chris Dixon is leaving after eight years at the magazine. Dixon helped oversee a redesign of the magazine with editor-in-chief Radhika Jones, who succeeded Graydon Carter after he stepped down from his 25-year run in 2017.

Dixon's last day is November 22. He will stay on through the transition to find a successor.
