'Washington Examiner,' 'TheBlaze' Continue Conservative News Site Gains

Conservative news publisher The Washington Examiner registered its ninth consecutive month of strong unique user gains, spiking 142% in September, the most recent month analyzed by conservative news site analytics platform TheRighting.

TheBlaze also continued its audience run, recording its 11th consecutive month of growth in unique visitors in September.

On the losing end of the political right spectrum, Breitbart dipped another 30% in September, marking its 28th loss in the last 29 months.

“Another month of huge traffic gains helped cement the Examiner’s position as one of the major success stories in conservative media this year,” said Howard Polskin, president-chief curator, TheRighting.

“September also marked another month of significant increases of millions of unique visitors to three major mainstream news websites because of noteworthy news events like the revelations about the Ukrainian phone call," noted Polskin, adding: "More audiences may have been seeking original reporting and analysis about the unsettled political landscape from sources that have been considered trustworthy for decades.”

Among the three leading U.S. mainstream news brands, CNN attracted 14 million more uniques in September for a 13% change; The New York Times was up 7.5 million (+9% change); and The Washington Post increased three million (+4% change).
