Time is offering its child-focused spinoff Time for Kids to students, families and teachers at home for free amid the COVID-19 outbreak and school closures. The move marks the first time the edition is available to readers outside classrooms in its 25 years of publishing.
Free access is supported by Google, AT&T, HP and PwC Charitable Foundation.
The access includes a digital library featuring all editions of Time for Kids published in 2020, financial literacy magazine Your $ and educational resources and activities. Time for Kids content is available across printable PDFs and digitally published pieces on the magazine’s website and is released in grade-specific editions.
Teachers needing support have access to teaching materials, curriculum guides and virtual learning plans that accompany each issue, in addition to worksheets and quizzes meant to support home-school and distance learning.
In addition to the new open access, Time for Kids has published a special report around COVID-19, which includes resources for teachers and families who want to help their children understand the pandemic. The issue is available today. It includes interviews with health experts and explains how the pandemic impacts the world on a societal level."Kids need and deserve fact-based, trustworthy journalism to help put the world in age-appropriate context, especially during a confusing time," said Andrea Delbanco, EIC of Time for Kids. “In response to the current crisis we are bringing Time for Kids to homes and families to provide access to anyone who needs it.”
