CircleAround, Verizon Business Launch Mentorship Effort

Girl Scouts of the USA’s recently launched media brand, CircleAround, is gearing up to host its first mentorship event tomorrow in partnership with Verizon Business and the National Association of Women Business Owners.

Hosted by Verizon Business CEO Tami Erwin, “Women in Media” gathers executives from across the media industry to discuss leadership, mentorship and advice for women whose careers have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ahead of the event, Erwin stated: “Verizon has a longstanding commitment to assist small-business customers through mentorship and financial support. It’s critical that we lean into supporting women-owned small businesses as the fog of the pandemic lifts and we reimagine what the future looks like.”

Slated panelists include Female Quotient CEO Shelley Zalis, National Board Member of Girl Scouts of the USA Jenny Alonzo, head of media and content at Verizon Alex Wallace, senior news editor in marketing at LinkedIn News Callie Schweitzer and career expert and Forbes contributor Rachel Montanez.

“I view the opportunity to join these panels with fellow female business leaders as a way to bring forth critical and useful information that can help women-owned businesses leverage resources to help them succeed, especially in this new world we're experiencing,” Alonzo told Publishers Daily.

The event is free and streams online from 3 - 4 p.m. August 6. Attendees can take part in a Q&A via live chat.

“Women in Media” is part of the Verizon Business Women in Business mentorship program, which features a virtual monthly event series set to focus on future topics, such as finance, technology, sports and the public sector.

Verizon Business was a signature launch partner for CircleAround, along with Shutterstock.

Verizon Business’s role in the partnership includes supporting women-owned businesses through one-to-one mentorship, industry-specific panels and content focused on women who are small-business owners.
