Movie Theaters Are Still Empty

The major theater chains reopened in 68% of the country over Labor Day weekend, but still-anxious consumers are not beating a path to their doors. After five months of pandemic-forced closure, Warner Bros. blockbuster “Tenet” was supposed to bring crowds, but didn’t. Theaters remain closed in New York and Los Angeles, the two biggest markets in the United States. Other new movies are now being shelved as a result.
