Fortune executive editor Adam Lashinsky is leaving after nearly two decades at the business publication, and nearly four in the role.

“After 19 glorious, rewarding, life-changing years, I am leaving Fortune,” he wrote in a note to readers published Monday morning in "Data Sheet," Fortune’s daily tech newsletter.

Lashinsky's last day at Fortune is October 14. He will write a feature for the November issue of the magazine, and wrap up a few projects after his departure.

Lashinsky has a lot in store for his next chapter. He will become editor in chief of World 50, “an organization that builds private peer communities for CEOs and other top executives at leading global corporations.”

Lashinsky says he has moderated conversations for World 50 for over 10 years.

He has also signed on as a contributing writer for Business Insider and its other Insider brands. Lashinsky will write a business column every other week, as well as several feature stories a year.

Lashinsky will continue as a regular contributor to the Fox Business Network. He is also working on a documentary film series.

“When I joined Fortune my hair was brown, I was a newlywed, and I had never written a proper magazine feature,” Lashinksy wrote in his note, titled "A Goodbye After 19 Years." 

He added: “Now my hair isn’t brown anymore, I celebrated my 19th wedding anniversary last week, and I’ve written (and edited) more features than I can count.”
