'Architectural Digest' Names 16 Black Designers For Virtual Show House

Architectural Digest has announced the 16 Black interior design and architecture firms that will be featured in its first fully immersive, 360-degree shoppable virtual show house.

AD also announced today that LG has signed on as a sponsor.

“The Iconic Home,” which Publishers Daily reported on in September, is created in partnership with the Black Interior Designers Network, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion within the interior design industry.

The home — set to debut in November on ArchDigest.com with 15 virtual rooms — is produced in honor of BIDN’s late founder, Kimberly Ward.

Ward, who passed away in 2017, wanted to use the name for a future show house to shine a light on the Black design community.

The designers, all BIDN members, will each focus on the following rooms:

Entry and powder room by Elaine Griffin of Elaine Griffin At Home; kitchen by Brigette Romanek of Romanek Design Studio; living room and hall by Michel Smith Boyd of SMITHBOYD Interiors; office by Amhad Freeman of Amhad Freeman Interiors; courtyard by Christopher Charles Evans of ChristopherCharles Interiors/IndigoRED, LLC; mud closet and garage by Brenda Danso of BD Interior Design; cabana guest room by Tavia Forbes and Monet Masters of FORBES MASTERS.

Additional designers include: wellness room by Anthony Dunning of Traders Haven Design; pool surround by Tiffany Cobb of Tiffany René Interior Design; primary bedroom by Keia McSwain of Kimberly + Cameron Interiors; primary bathroom by Eneia White of Eneia White Interiors; laundry by Leah Alexander of Beauty Is Abundant; guest room 1 by Ariene C. Bethea of Dressing Rooms Interiors Studio, LLC; guest room 2 by Carmeon Hamilton of Nubi Interiors; and rooftop terrace by Jason Bolden and Adair Curtis of JSN Studio.

Samantha Josaphat and Luis Medina of Studio 397 Architecture will be the architects of the show house. It will feature 360° photo-realistic renderings with products integrated via shoppable hotspots.

Gaggenau, Caesarstone, Crate and Barrel, CB2, Purple Innovation, The Shade Store and Interface are also show house sponsors.
