The New Yorker has fired staff writer Jeffrey
Toobin, its longtime political-legal analyst, after a three-week investigation.
He was caught exposing himself on a work Zoom call with magazine staffers and WNYC Radio. Toobin was apparently
part of a different video call when the incident occurred.
When it happened in October, Toobin said in a statement, "I made an embarrassingly stupid mistake,
believing I was off-camera. I apologize to my wife, family, friends and co-workers."
Toobin, who has been with The New Yorker for 27 years, also tweeted his
dismissal.

The former U.S. attorney also served as a legal analyst for CNN. In the 1990s, he was an associate counsel in the Office of Independent Counsel during Iran-Contra.
In an earlier statement to Motherboard, once the incident became public, Toobin said: “I made an embarrassingly stupid mistake, believing I was off-camera. I apologize to my
wife, family, friends and co-workers. I believed I was not visible on Zoom. I thought no one on the Zoom call could see me. I thought I had muted the Zoom video.”
