Wrestling fans should brace themselves.
The Ringer, a digital studio/site acquired by Spotify last year, has formed an audio partnership with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).
The new tag team will collaborate on new WWE content, and existing material will now be exclusive to Spotify.
For starters, "The Masked Man Show with David Shoemaker" now be called "The Ringer Wrestling Show," and the podcast will increase its frequency and programming.
In addition, there will be live conversations in the Spotify Greenroom app following WWE pay-per-view events; finals will be part of "The Ringer Wrestling Show."
To kick things off, The Ringer will cover WWE’s SummerSlam event at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. There, Shoemaker will create new episodes of "The Ringer Wrestling Show."
In addition, WWE personality Evan Mack will debut a new podcast at the event: "MackMania."“The Ringer is the premier destination for sports fandom, and WWE has used amazing storytelling and iconic characters to establish a global audience of loyal and passionate fans, making this partnership a perfect match,” states Bill Simmons, who founded The Ringer in 2016.
