Inspirational magazine Guideposts has acquired
Abide, a Christian meditation and prayer app. Terms were not disclosed.
Abide founders Neil Ahlsten and Eric Tse will join the Guideposts team. The pair, which left their jobs in 2014
to start Carpenter’s Code, a Silicon Valley startup, “hope to find peace in partnership with Guideposts,” Ahlsten states.
Abide reaches 1.5 million listeners each month
via the app, YouTube and podcast. Guideposts reaches 10 million.
“This acquisition will allow both teams to dramatically expand our impact beyond what either
organization could accomplish on its own,” states John Temple, president-CEO of Guideposts.
Earlier this year, Guideposts announced it would reduce its
print issues from 10 to six per year, while adding 30 pages. It also performed a redesign to help the print and digital content align more closely.

The new digital assets will help
people do a “deeper-dive” into the stories they’re interested in,” CEO John Temple told the Danbury News-Item. This includes videos, photos that
didn’t make it into print issues, and other content.
Guideposts calls itself the “go-to publication for positive, uplifting personal stories from celebrities and
everyday people alike.” Nondenominational and nonpolitical, it covers topics such as prayer, addiction recovery, marriage, hobbies and forgiveness.
