GovExec Acquires Forecast International, Expands Defense Portfolio

GovExec, the fast-growing B2B media company covering the government sector, announced Tuesday that it is acquiring Forecast International, a provider of subscription-based market intelligence, for the aerospace and defense industries.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The deal was completed with financial support from GovExec’s owner, the mid-market private-equity firm Growth Catalyst Partners.

The acquisition is GovExec’s 11th since March 2020, when Growth Catalyst Partners acquired a controlling interest in GovExec. This transaction comes just two weeks after the company acquired News Service of Florida, which covers policy and politics in that state.

Nearly all of the acquisitions by Washington, D.C.-based GovExec are research and data-related businesses. Most of the acquisitions have come in the last 13 months, making the pace of growth for GovExec extraordinary — and challenging.

Forecast International becomes a significant piece of GovExec’s growing defense portfolio, the company said. Alongside the company’s content brands, Defense Systems and Defense One, GovExec can provide defense contractors with end-to-end support.

“Finding a company like Forecast International that is the market leader in intelligence, data and forecasting for the defense sector is a game changer for us,” GovExec CEO Tim Hartman said. “Through its team of talented analysts and subject matter experts, they provide a snapshot of the defense market globally that is unmatched. This addition further expands the ways in which GovExec can support and inform government contractors for the business opportunities of today and tomorrow.”

Forecast International CEO Ed Nebinger said: “It has been a long journey for us, but with the help of many talented analysts and effective key leaders, we have built an intelligence machine of which we are very proud. Now, GovExec, will take it to the next level and beyond.”

Its subscription-based offerings include 36 market-intelligence and forecast products, 27 forecast modules, licensing of digital-inventory databases that are refreshed regularly, over 70 market-segment analyses, and more than 1,300 individual reports annually providing coverage of significant worldwide land, sea, air and space programs.
