Kalmbach Media Acquires Video Production Company Video Wisconsin

Kalmbach Media, the Waukesha, Wisconsin-based enthusiast-media company, announced Wednesday it has bought Video Wisconsin, an agency that provides an array of video services, including e-learning, video production, animation (2D and 3D) and motion graphics.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Video Wisconsin has a wide variety of clients, including MillerCoors, Bell South Cellular, Kohler, Orbis, and Heart of the Nation Catholic Ministries.

Dan Hickey, CEO of Kalmbach — whose brands include AstronomyDiscover, Trains, and Model Railroader and others — said the addition of Video Wisconsin will enhance the company’s growing video and media-production capabilities.

Those functions were already expanded with the recent acquisition of Saturn Lounge, a marketing-services agency. Now, Hickey said, improved production capabilities will encompass services such as live broadcast video, podcasts, expansive photographic imagery, and aerial photography.

He added that Kalmbach continues to manage a strong balance sheet and will “continue to pursue strategic acquisition opportunities that strengthen our portfolio.”

Saturn Lounge President Jim Kohlhardt, who will oversee the management of Video Wisconsin, said the acquisition expands its ability to provide clients with 360-degree video and media solutions. "Their facility includes a 40’x60’ sound stage and a fully outfitted audio suite.”
