CTemplar, an encrypted email service that apparently hoped to complete with the Gmails and Yahoo Mails, is shutting down effective May 26.
Privacy Guides tweets that “we are hearing reports email sending is already disabled.”
In addition, The Daily Swig reports that contact details have been deleted from the CTamplar website, and that the service has shut down its social media channels
The company offers no reason in the post announcing the closing. It did say users should “contact customer support to issue refunds!”
The post also offers advice on how to transfer contact lists to a new service.
Stored data will be erased, the company added.
Users tweeted that they were surprised by the shutdown, one saying “It’s very surprising and sudden!”
