'Variety' And Twitter Partner On Film Chatter Chart

Variety has introduced a new entertainment tracking chart in partnership with Twitter.

The Variety Film Chatter Chart debuted on Twitter on Monday.

The most tweeted-about movies this week are "Bullet Train,” “Prey” and “Don’t Worry Darling.” Other trending films are “Blonde,” “Easter Sunday” and “Bodies Bodies Bodies.”

The news follows last year’s launch of Trending TV Charts, a similar product devoted to TV programs.

“We’re excited to build on Variety’s hugely successful partnership with Twitter by connecting with movie fans and stirring chatter around today’s biggest blockbusters,” states Dea Lawrence, chief operating and marketing officer of Variety

Lawrence adds, "It’s the chatter that matters.”

The new chart also provides analysis of the week-to-week movement of the top films, and a heat-map tracking conversations around the country.

“Using Twitter Data, Variety can now offer official insights to showcase what film fans are tweeting about, whether it’s a new release or the latest trailer, and keep readers up to date on what’s trending,” states Janice Morris, director of lifestyle and publishing partnerships at Twitter.
