'Wine Spectator' Enters Podcast Field

Wine Spectator has made its podcast debut with a program titled “Straight Talk with Wine Spectator.”

Each episode will highlight topics featured in the most recent issues of the magazine.

The program is hosted by James Molesworth, senior editor and special projects director.

Building on the Wine Spectator’s Straight Talk Instagram Live series, the podcast has debuted with a roundtable discussion of recent vintages and the controversy over family wine estates selling to corporate investors.

The panelists include Napa Cabernet winemakers Thomas Rivers Brown (Schrader Cellars, Rivers Marie), Andy Erickson (Favia, Dalla Valle, Mayacamas) and Helen Keplinger (Grace Family, Keplinger).

Each episode will also feature conversations with Wine Spectator news editor Mitch Frank and podcast director Rob Taylor about timely industry news and issues.

The podcasts will provide listeners with “a personal connection with our expert staff of tasters that no other format can offer,” states Wine Spectator Editor and Publisher Marvin R. Shanken.

Molesworth laughs, “It’s been a long time since my college radio days, but I’m excited to get back in front of a microphone.”

Hope not too many minutes of tasting notes on "mouth feel" and "hints of tobacco and black currants."
