Dotdash Meredith Took A 28% Revenue Hit in December, Digital Down 18%

Dotdash Meredith experienced a 28% decline in revenue YoY in December, parent IAC said.

Driving this was an 18% falloff in digital revenue and 39% in print.

But IAC’s Angi Inc. saw a modest overall increase: 6%.

Overall, IAC suffered a 47% decline in total revenue.

The firm’s search operation saw a 43% total revenue reduction, including 45% for its Ask Media Group and 35% in desktop revenue.

This is the last monthly report IAC will issue. It will return to its normal cadence of quarterly disclosures in Q1 2023. The company did not release numbers.

Despite its poor showing in December, Dotdash Meredith’s digital revenue showed large gains throughout the year—for example, 212% YoY in November and 251% in October, the report shows. But when analyzed as pro forma revenue, there was a 16% decline in November and 8% in October.

In November, IAC reported $467.1 million in Q3 revenue for Dotdash Meredith, up from $65.2 million YoY. However, that 51% increase was due principally to the acquisition of Meredith. Otherwise, there was a 19% pro forma decline, and Dotdash Meredith suffered an operating loss of $95.5 million.
