Larry Kramer, a founder of Marketwatch.com and current president of CBSNews.com. speaks with the
San Jose Mercury News about the future of broadband content and video search. Kramer believes
broadband video represents the future of media consumption, because busy consumers don't have time these days to wait or plan around the show times of their favorite programs. TV content on iPods is a
nice alternative for business travelers, for example, but more than that, the demand for on-demand content is there. Kramer says CBSNews.com is constantly sold out of its broadband video content and
is adding more all the time. Even so, the critical mass just isn't there yet: CBSNews.com is a significant business, but still only represents 3 or 4 percent of CBS' revenues. Meanwhile, Kramer says
he has been talking with the major video search providers (MSN, Yahoo!, AOL, Apple) about wider content distribution after securing a deal with Google recently.
