CheapTickets Breaks Web Campaign

Cendant's discount online travel agency, CheapTickets.com, is expected today to break the online portion of a new branding campaign on BudgetTravelonline.com.

For the initiative, CheapTickets has arranged for run-of-site banner ads to appear on BudgetTravelonline.com; a CheapTickets booking engine also will be available on the BudgetTravel site.

The campaign, which is slated to run all year, will ultimately involve partnerships with additional Web sites, said Randy Wagner, chief marketing officer for CheapTickets.com and Orbitz. Part of the online promotion will include coupons distributed on the Web.

Print ads for the campaign will appear in next month's Budget Travel magazine, as well as People, and Woman's World. Grey Direct, New York created the ads, while MediaCom did the print buy. The online ad buy was done in-house, a CheapTickets spokesman said.

Separately, Cendant's Orbitz this week announced it would officially launch RSS feeds for airline tickets, hotels, and travel packages. The service, which had been in beta testing for about one month, will enable users to arrange to have information about deals sent to personalized Yahoo! accounts.
